It is no coincidence that the famous wine regions of the world are also great vacation destinations. For wine lovers, vineyards in and of themselves are reason enough to make a pilgrimage.  But the nature of the terroir (land and climate) that produces great wines appeals to just about everyone, wine lover or not.  Wine varietals do best where there are long, dry summer days, cool nights, and low humidity.  The geological features that create those idyllic conditions include: large bodies of water, prevailing winds, rugged mountains, hills, and valleys. More often than not these areas are remote and the people who inhabit them are passionate about land and life.  These residents are pure archetypes, not homogenized by urban life.  At Eat Sip Sail we strive to provide amazing opportunities to explore the cultures and landscapes that produce great wines.  Our passion is in finding the not-often-heard-of gems, whether that be a bottle, vineyard,  hidden cove, or a village off the beaten track.   Of course we will visit the famous must sees, but we go in the shoulder- or off-season and stay away from the crowds.

  • "Wine has been a part of civilized life for some seven thousand years. It is the only beverage that feeds the body, soul and spirit of man and at the same time stimulates the mind."
    Robert Mondavi
